Why do you think the Colorado River is important?
Back in the time of our ancestors, life was made possible by the Colorado River. As a student in the sciences, I know the Colorado River was the key to civilization and life styles in the southwest. The river has made places like the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles possible. As an outdoors enthusiast, the Colorado River provides the enjoyment of many outdoors adventures such as: river rafting, camping, lakes, fishing, and many others. The Colorado River is important for people who want to get away and feel free, but most importantly: without the river, people would not be able to live in such an amazing place.

What has been your favorite part about being a NR Youth Leader?
My favorite part of Nuestro Río Youth Leaders has been the opportunity to meet individuals from different states who are facing similar issues. Coming together for one greater cause and common goal means that people can and should work together; it is not just one state that is getting impacted, but many. If young leaders can do it, I am sure our states, government, and leaders of this country can unite to solve a problem. Being around such amazing leaders only motivated me to work harder and get myself more involved with my community. Thus, bringing different states together, not only changed my views to see the bigger picture but, has created life-long lasting friendships.
